Linda Nease grew up in New Orleans which introduced her to cultural diversity not usually found in the United States. This led to a desire for greater exploration and a fascination with people and different cultures. Her first trip to Europe was when she was 20 when Athens beckoned, and she has enjoyed many travels since. Painting is her other life long passion. Interests in cultural anthropology melded with geometry and art led her from a painting major at Louisiana State University to a degree in Interior Design at University of Cincinnati. That profession has given her a schedule flexible enough to continue painting, with regular trips to France, Italy, Spain, and Hawaii, for her soul. Linda lives in San Pablo, California with her husband, where she paints and plans her next travels. |

Painting gives me joy and is a means to explore and know more fully my environment, my context. I extrapolate and extract the meanings that recognize me through brushwork and color. I have been told that my brushwork and palette have the sound of children laughing. I am pulled toward the earth, gardens, all that grows in them. I am equally pulled toward greater understanding of humanity, our relationships with family, friends and all other beings; connections; geometry. Travel is a gift of new images and colors. It awakens my senses, questions my certainties. |
